Michigan Shouldn’t Hang Their Heads Too Far
September 4th, 2007So the no name Appalachian State came in and beat a big time 1A school to start the season? This just wasn’t some no name hack of a team though. It was, as their new division is aptly named, a CHAPMPIONSHIP team.
As for falling out of the top 25…well Michigan certainly deserved that. But they can and should bounce back if they play well for the next 5 to 6 games. They can easily end up back in the Top 10 by season’s end. Not exactly a “bad” season. It’s a big if but it certainly is very feasible too.
My real point isn’t that it was a surprise they lost. Of course it was. But reality is that the team they played could very EASILY be a Top 25 caliber team. The fact that they’re a division lower is honestly not that big a deal. It is for the record books and whatnot, but reality is something different.
Don’t concentrate on the negative so much. Look at the real picture and understand that they lost to a damn good football team that could give ANY college football a team a run for their money (especially on a neutral field).
Hang in there Michigan. You’ll be back. And App St….Good for you! Keep showing everyone that talent is talent regardless of how people categorize you.
